Monday Dawns

Another day on the Island. So far we have made nearly 6000 contacts and the bands remain in reasonable shape. The weather is fine but still very windy but so far no damage to the antennas. A fantastic place for radio with more than enough room for all our verticals and wires.

Today's Photographs

Update Sunday

The wind is really quite strong now and the masts are bending nicely but they should be ok. We have over 1500 contacts in the log so far and have worked a few members of Sands already, G0YLM, G1OCK, G0LLG and G0LWU. Thanks to all the have worked us so far.....

Sunday Morning

Finally all the antennas are up and we are now working all HF bands. The weather has been very kind to us, both yesterday and today, although it is starting to get a bit breezy.
Breakfast went down very well and we are settling into the cottages which are lovely. The antennas are set up behind the cottages on higher ground.

The lighthouse and cottages are in a very desolate location but it is quite beautiful. We have to mobile or internet coverage without travelling to the other side of the Island but we hope to have more photos at a later date.
For now, Hughie is holding court on 40m and the contacts are flowing thick and fast.

Arrived in Ireland

We have had a wonderful calm crossing to Belfast. Now driving through Northern Ireland to Burton Port for the ferry crossing to the Island. We may get a few antennas up early evening depending on the time of arrival at the Lighthouse Cottages. Tomorrow we will start on the HF bands with a vengeance.

Off On Dxpedition

Well that time of year is round again and we are off on dxpedition again. This year it's Arranmore, a small island on the west coast of Ireland. Most of the day has been spent shopping and loading the van. Now all is ready and members of Sands ARCG are heading north to meet up with the guys from Workington RC. From there it will be onto Dumfries and Galloway to get the ferry across to Belfast at 4.30am.
